Newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has described his role with Ghana as the most demanding task of his long managerial career.
The experienced Portuguese coach was recently named to lead the national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and was officially unveiled by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) at a press conference held at the Alisa Hotel on Thursday, April 23.
Addressing the media, Queiroz admitted he has already felt the intensity and passion surrounding the Black Stars, noting that expectations in Ghana are exceptionally high.
“Since I arrived, I have felt the vibration. I realised the soul of the Black Stars is huge, and as a result, the expectations of the Black Stars are huge. This is the biggest challenge of my entire career…..Because in Ghana they don’t expect anything but to win, win, and win,” the Portuguese coach said.
Despite acknowledging the pressure, he expressed confidence in his ability to handle the responsibility, promising to rely on his decades of experience.
“I can promise that I will bring my forty years of experience to help.”
Queiroz also assured fans that his team will show commitment and determination on the pitch, stressing that while Ghana possesses talented players, success will require discipline and hard work.
As preparations begin for the global tournament, the veteran coach is focused on building a competitive side capable of meeting the country’s high expectations.
