New Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has delivered a heartfelt and inspiring message to Ghanaians, describing the country as “a nation of talent, pride, and footballing soul” as he begins his tenure with the senior national team.
The experienced Portuguese tactician, who has managed at the highest level across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, expressed deep gratitude and humility after being entrusted with one of Africa’s most prestigious coaching roles.
In his first official communication following his appointment, Queiroz made it clear that his decision to take charge of the Black Stars goes beyond professional duty, framing it instead as a personal mission to serve the country’s rich football tradition.
“Football has given me a lifetime of challenges, lessons, and unforgettable journeys across the world. Today, I accept this mission with the same passion and commitment that have guided me throughout my career,” he said.
The former Real Madrid and Iran national team coach acknowledged Ghana’s proud football history and the expectations that come with leading a team of such stature.
“Ghana is a nation of talent, pride, and footballing soul. I arrive with respect for its history and belief in its future,” Queiroz emphasized.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, the new Black Stars boss highlighted unity, discipline, and ambition as the core values that will shape his approach as he seeks to guide Ghana back to the top of African and world football.
“Together, with unity, discipline, and ambition, we will work to honour the expectations of a great football nation. This is not just another job — it is a mission,” he declared.
Queiroz concluded by assuring Ghanaians of his total commitment, promising to dedicate his experience and knowledge to the growth of the team and the joy of the nation.
As a new era begins, expectations will be high, but so too is the belief that under his leadership, the Black Stars can rediscover their identity and compete strongly on the global stage once again.
