Ghanaian winger Christopher Bonsu Baah is on the verge of completing a move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah, with the deal expected to be finalized by the end of the week.
The 20-year-old, who turns 21 on December 14, is set to leave Belgian Pro League outfit KRC Genk after both clubs agreed on a reported €15 million transfer fee. Bonsu Baah is expected to sign a five-year contract that will run from the 2025/26 season through to 2030.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri broke the news on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, confirming that Al-Qadsiah and Genk have reached an agreement for the highly rated Ghanaian international.
Bonsu Baah joined Genk ahead of the 2023/24 season from Norwegian side Sarpsborg 08. He quickly established himself as a key figure in the team’s attacking line, featuring in 43 matches across all competitions in the 2024/25 campaign. He contributed 3 goals and 5 assists, earning praise for his pace, dribbling, and versatility.
His performances at club level also earned him a call-up to the Ghana national team, where he featured in the Unity Cup against Trinidad and Tobago. His rapid rise mirrors the path of former Genk and Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil, who moved to Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy after impressing in Belgium.
Al-Qadsiah, who secured a fourth-place finish in the 2024/25 Saudi Pro League season, are aiming to bolster their squad for the new campaign. The signing of Bonsu Baah is seen as part of the club’s effort to add youth and attacking depth as they prepare to challenge for top honours in Saudi football.
