Belgian champions Club Brugge have confirmed the return of experienced Ghana international Denis Odoi, with the veteran defender signing a one-year contract with Club NXT, the club’s U23 side, including an option to extend the deal for a further season.
The 38-year-old returns to familiar surroundings after a successful spell with Dutch outfit NAC Breda, bringing a wealth of experience to one of Belgium’s most promising youth setups.
Odoi is expected to combine his duties as a player with an important mentorship role, helping guide the club’s emerging talents as Club NXT prepares for the upcoming Challenger Pro League campaign.
His leadership, professionalism and vast experience at the highest level are expected to play a key role in accelerating the development of the club’s young players.
The move marks a homecoming for the versatile defender, who previously enjoyed a successful stint with Club Brugge between 2022 and 2024.
During that period, Odoi made 93 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals while helping the Blauw-Zwart secure two Belgian Pro League titles and the Belgian Super Cup.
His understanding of the club’s culture and winning mentality made him the ideal candidate to return and support the next generation of players coming through the academy.
Odoi boasts one of the most distinguished careers among Ghanaian defenders in Europe. Before rejoining Club Brugge, he featured for NAC Breda in the Netherlands after spending time with Belgian side Royal Antwerp.
The former Black Stars defender also enjoyed a memorable six-year spell with English club Fulham, where he made 129 appearances and celebrated two promotions to the Premier League.
His career has also included spells with STVV, Anderlecht and OH Leuven, while internationally he represented Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
