Colchester United have granted permission to central midfielder Kwame Poku Afriyie Adubofour to join the Ghana Black Stars team ahead of the AFCON qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome this month.
The 19-year-old playmaker made the Black Stars coach CK Akonnor’s team for the impending games and Sportsworldghana.com understands that his club have already said goodbye to him as he gets set to depart for the qualifiers.
Poku will miss his club’s matches against Port Vale, Tranmere Rovers and Bradford City in the English League 2 due to the national assignment.
He won the Colchester United best young player of the year award in 2020 and was also nominated for goal of the season as well as player of the year.
