Simba 1-0 Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch lost 1-0 to Simba SC in the first leg of the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday afternoon, with Ivorian midfielder Jean Charles Ahoua’s important strike right before the end of the first half making the difference.
Simba SC has taken full advantage of their home games by winning always, as it is the reason why they have reached this far.
The Tanzanians will regret not scoring many goals from the 21 shot attempts in total. They had 5 on target and could have scored at least three but were so wasteful in attack.
Fadlu Davids’ side will need to improve when they visit South Africa before the second leg against the unpredictable Stellenbosch.
Stellenbosch on any day, can score twice without Simba responding. Simba preventing Stellenbosch from scoring was a big plus for the Tanzanians because of the existence of the away goal rule in the African game.
Simba’s South African head coach Fadlu Davids expressed his delight in his side’s clean sheet after the game
“Objective in terms of keeping a clean sheet is done, but we are a big club. Simba is a big club, and we cannot be happy with a 1-0 scoreline at home, especially when we had moments to make it 2-0, 3-0 & even 4-0. The players got to realize the stage we are in,” Davids said

Berkane 4-0 Constantine
RS Berkane of Morocco broke Algerian side Constantine into pieces with a 4-0 thrashing. The Moroccans, who lost in the finals to Zamalek last season, have done the job in the first leg, with 99% of football fans expecting Berkane to qualify for the finals.
The Moroccans showed that there’s a huge gap between the two clubs. Berkane, in recent years, has gathered immense experience and taken huge advantage of it against Constantine, who has zero experience at this level.
The Moroccan champions got off to a dream start with barely a minute played. Youssef Mehri gave Berkane the lead with one minute on the clock. They continued attacking Constantine even after the early goal.
Senegalese forward Paul Bassene, in the 21st minute, made it 2-0 for RS Berkane. It was a very difficult moment for the away side because they had no antidote to Berkane’s intensity. The game finished 2-0 in the first half.
Haytam Manaout assisted Oussama Lamlioui to score twice in the 54th and 92nd minutes, respectively, in the second half to help RS Berkane win 4-0.
It looks 99.9% per cent that Berkane, who are champions of Morocco, will qualify for the finals.
