Black Queens goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan is optimistic that the Black Princesses can make history at the 2024 U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia by advancing past the group stage.

Konlan, who now plays for Al Hilal, was part of the team that competed in the tournament two years ago but failed to progress beyond the group stage, marking the sixth consecutive time they had fallen short.

Despite these past challenges, Konlan remains hopeful about the team’s chances this August in Colombia.

In a media interview on Saturday, she shared her confidence in the team’s potential: “I believe in them and I know they can do it. We’ve all watched the WAFU Zone B they played and the 2023 African Games; they did their best and they gave everything.

“I know when they put more effort at what they gave to Ghanaians, I know they can go far and I believe in them.”

The Black Princesses are placed in Group E, alongside Austria, Japan, and New Zealand.

Ghana, now qualifying for its seventh consecutive U20 World Cup, is one of four African nations set to compete in this prestigious tournament.

Currently, Konlan has joined the Black Queens in Japan for an upcoming international friendly scheduled for this Saturday.
