Ghana’s Black Stars coach, Otto Addo, has excluded Denis Odoi from the team for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic due to injury.
Odoi, who played a pivotal role in Club Brugge’s Belgium League triumph, and Nathaniel Adjei, who has made 15 appearances in Ligue 1 while on loan from Hammarby IF, will both miss the crucial Group I encounters.
Coach Addo addressed the media at the GFA headquarters, where he unveiled his squad for the upcoming games. The Black Stars will begin their training camp on Thursday at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.
Ghana is eager to return to winning ways after a mixed start in the World Cup qualifiers. Currently, the team is in 4th place in Group I, with one win and one loss from their first two matches. The campaign began with a 1-0 victory over Madagascar in Kumasi but was followed by a 1-0 defeat to Comoros in Moroni.
The qualifier against Mali is scheduled for Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako, with a kick-off time of 19:00. Subsequently, Ghana will host the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10, 2024. These matches are vital for Ghana’s chances of progressing in the World Cup qualifiers.
