Two time CAF Champions League winner and a legend of Asante Kotoko, Daniel Nii Adjei has admonished his former club to ensure they invest massively if only they want to make impact in their African campaign.
Adjei observed that clubs that have made strides in Africa like his previous clubs TP Mazembe and Wydad Athletic Club all invested effectively.
Speaking with Angel TV’s Abomu Sports hosted by Esther Abankwa, he urged the leadership of Kotoko not to sell the two Cameroonians but rather do massive but strategic recruitment in order to beef up the squad ahead of their campaign.
“Even though Kotoko will get money if they sell them, they shouldn’t only think about the money, they should think of the development of the club as well.
”They should rather ensure they increase their salaries and retain them.
”They need to think of making impact. They have to invest more on recruitment of players to spice the team.
”Teams who have target of making impact in Africa don’t sell their players. There are instances when I was at TP Mazembe and Wydad, European clubs came requesting to buy some of us , but they never sold us, not even to go for loans.” he stated.
Daniel Nii Adjei further urged Kotoko to ensure they get experienced and matured players to be part of the squad as well ahead of their campaign.
Daniel Nii Adjei has won the CAF Champions league twice as well CAF Confederations Cup and the Super Cup with TP Mazembe and Wydad Athletic Club.
