Dreams FC’s attacking midfielder, Sylvester Simba, reflected on their CAF Confederation Cup journey, expressing their initial optimism against Zamalek.
Despite their hopes, Dreams FC faced a 3-0 defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium, leading to their elimination from the competition following a goalless draw in Cairo.
Simba acknowledged the challenge of playing against one of Africa’s top teams, saying, “We thought we could get to the final but it didn’t happen. Although things didn’t go as expected, but we still have another chance to go next season.”
He explained their mindset for the home leg, stating, “We had the mentality that it was going to be easy for us in Kumasi because Baba Yara had been good to us throughout the campaign.” However, their high hopes were shattered with the loss.
Recognizing Zamalek’s prowess, Simba noted, “You know these Egyptian teams, they are very quick and have experience when it comes to competitions like this, so I guess this is where God said we should end our trip. So we thank God.”
