Dutch international Memphis Depay, of Ghanaian descent, has revealed plans to arrange a friendly match between his club, Corinthians, and Asante Kotoko.
Depay, who is currently in Ghana for the Christmas holidays, is set to participate in various activities, including charity work. On Thursday morning, he visited Kotoko’s training grounds as the team prepared for their upcoming match against Bibiani GoldStars.
In a video shared by Asante Kotoko, the former Manchester United and Barcelona star was seen encouraging the players at Adako Jachie. Depay expressed admiration for the team’s efforts and outlined plans for the friendly match.
“I like what I see, and I urge you all to keep going. Never give up. I respect each one of you. I’m working on something to organize a friendly game between Kotoko and my team, Corinthians, in Brazil. It’s in the plans, so let’s hope we can make it happen and give you a chance to showcase your talent,” Depay said.
Asante Kotoko will host Bibiani GoldStars in matchday 15 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday. Kotoko currently sits 5th in the league with 24 points, while GoldStars are in 2nd place with 27 points.
