Prof. Peter Twumasi, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has expressed his belief that the implementation of electronic ticketing has resulted in improved revenue from games.
In recent times, the Ghana Premier League has experienced a decline in the number of fans attending matches at stadiums, and this has been attributed by many pundits and fans to the introduction of e-ticketing.
The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and other stakeholders have also acknowledged that e-ticketing has contributed to this issue.
However, during an interview with Asempa FM in Accra, Prof. Peter Twumasi stated that the introduction of e-ticketing has actually led to a significant improvement in revenue generated from games.
He emphasized that the implementation of e-ticketing has helped to curb revenue leakages that were previously prevalent in stadiums, thus positively impacting the financial gains.
“When we analyze the statistics after the introduction of e-ticketing, we can see a substantial improvement in the revenue generated from the games,” he explained.
“With the implementation of e-ticketing, money is now being generated from various category D venues because everyone attending the games has already purchased their tickets beforehand.”
