Ghanaian midfielder Elisha Owusu delivered a stellar performance to lead AJ Auxerre to a commanding 3-0 home win over Brest in the French Ligue 1 on Friday evening.
Starting for the Blue and Whites, Owusu opened his season’s goal-scoring account and added an assist in the comprehensive victory at the Stade de l’Abbe-Deschamps. The 26-year-old midfielder capitalized on a well-timed pass from Sinaly Diomandé to break the deadlock in the 26th minute.
Auxerre captain Jubal doubled the lead in the 37th minute, calmly converting a penalty. Owusu continued to influence the game, setting up Hamed Junior Traoré for the third goal in the 59th minute, sealing a dominant performance for Auxerre.
Owusu played the full 90 minutes, showcasing his pivotal role in the team’s success. Meanwhile, fellow Ghanaian Gideon Mensah, recently recovered from injury, came on as a substitute in the 66th minute, replacing Clement Akpa.
This was Owusu’s sixth appearance of the season, adding a goal and an assist to his tally as he continues to impress in Ligue 1.
