Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has expressed his excitement about starting the current season injury-free, after enduring a difficult previous campaign.
The 26-year-old RSC Anderlecht player is eager to build on his solid start and earn more game time as the season progresses.
Ashimeru spent much of last season sidelined by injuries, including one sustained during a national team match against Mozambique in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. As a result, he made only 15 appearances in all competitions for Anderlecht last season.
This season, however, has seen a more positive start for the talented midfielder. He has already made eight appearances in all competitions, scoring once. Ashimeru also made his Europa League debut in Anderlecht’s 2-1 victory over Ferencvaros, marking a key milestone in his recovery.
Reflecting on his return to form, Ashimeru shared his satisfaction in an interview with Flashscore: “It has been good overall because last year I had too many injuries, so I’m now coming up step by step. I feel really good to play for this club and also the city, the supporters, everyone. I’m just hoping I can make the next step.”
He added, “The more games you play, the better because it’s a good feeling. For me personally, I think it’s a good phase to play so many games.”
Ashimeru will hope to secure a place in the starting lineup when Anderlecht travel to Dender for their next match this weekend.
