Asante Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Frimpong has revealed that former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong was his major signing during his active days as an agent.
Frimpong was an academy graduate at Arsenal who played a few games for the club before moving to other teams across Europe.
In an exclusive with Dentaa, Amponsah revealed that he feared Frimpong would play in the lower leagues in England but ended up competing at the Russian top division which made him happy.
“The one that [was my major signing] because of the relationship I developed with him is Emmanuel Frimpong from Arsenal, to Barnsley and then to Russia. It was so difficult because I believed there were many talents in the UK who did not want to experience life outside the UK and will rather go to the lower tiers,” he said.

“When Barnsley didn’t work out, I was afraid that he will go to League 2 but he moved to the Russian Premier League and then he was playing in the Premier League again. I admire his courage to take that step.”
Amponsah’s Kotoko have been camping in Sudan for pre-season as they get ready for a new campaign.
