Ghana forward Ernest Nuamah scored his first league goal of the season for Olympique Lyon in a 1-1 draw against FC Nantes on Sunday evening in a round 19 Ligue 1 encounter at the Stade de la Beaujoire.
Nuamah opened the scoring in the 10th minute, receiving a pass from Argentine defender Nicolas Tagliafico. The 21-year-old forward was unmarked inside the box and calmly placed his shot into the right corner of the net, giving Lyon an early 1-0 lead.
Despite their strong start, Lyon were unable to hold onto their advantage, as Nantes equalized in the dying moments of the match. In the 90th minute, Nigerian winger Moses Simon provided a precise assist to Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed, who scored the equalizer to secure a point for the home side.
Nuamah’s goal brings his tally to two for Lyon this season across all competitions. His first goal of the campaign came in the Europa League, and he has made 21 appearances for the French club since his arrival.
Lyon currently sit in 6th place in the Ligue 1 standings but are winless in their last five games across all competitions.
