Kevin-Prince Boateng, the former Ghanaian midfielder, has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36.
Boateng has hung up his boots after a remarkable career spanning 15 clubs in Europe, which notably included AC Milan and Barcelona.
In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, Boateng confirmed his decision to step away from the sport, expressing his deep affection for football.
“I LOVE YOU. But that’s a WRAP for me. Thank you FOOTBALL for everything,” he wrote.
The German-born Ghanaian’s final playing stint was with his hometown club Hertha Berlin, marking both the beginning and conclusion of his football journey.
Throughout his career, Boateng accumulated 520 professional appearances, contributing 76 goals and 56 assists. His accomplishments encompassed five prestigious trophies, notably the Italian Serie A and DFB Pokal.
While representing Ghana on the international stage, Boateng made fourteen appearances, notably participating in two FIFA World Cups.
However, his tenure with the Black Stars was relatively brief, largely due to disciplinary matters.
