Asante Kotoko is preparing to extend a contract offer to defender Mubarik Yussif, aiming to prolong his impressive tenure with the club.
At 27 years old, Mubarik Yussif plays a pivotal role in the Reds’ defensive line. However, his current contract has reached its expiration, prompting discussions for a renewal.
During the previous season, Mubarik’s playing time was limited due to injuries and other factors. Despite these challenges, he managed to make a significant impact, participating in 16 matches and scoring once. His consistent dedication and strong performances have established him as a valuable asset for the Kumasi-based club.
Recognizing his contributions and unwavering commitment, both Asante Kotoko and its passionate fan base hold Mubarik Yusif in high esteem. In light of this, the club has put forward a contract extension offer to the seasoned defender, who is currently undergoing assessment at the Black Galaxies camp.
Notably, the newly appointed coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has been impressed by Mubarik’s exemplary attitude, viewing him as an ideal role model as the club leadership endeavors to shape a team for the future.
In the upcoming weeks, Mubarik and his representatives are scheduled to hold discussions with the Kotoko Interim Management Committee (IMC) regarding the proposed new deal. Together, they will decide whether to renew his contract or explore alternative opportunities as a free agent.
Asante Kotoko remains hopeful that Mubarik Yusif will accept the contract extension offer and officially sign a new agreement in the near future.
Mubarik Yussif initially joined Kotoko from Ashantigold SC in 2020, signing a three-year deal at that time.
