EXCLUSIVE: Samuel Boadu open to Hearts of Oak return

Former Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel Boadu has indicated that he is open to making a sensational return to the Phobians, a statement that has sparked renewed optimism among sections of the club’s supporters.

Speaking in an interview with sportsworldghana.com, Boadu made it clear that he would not rule out a comeback to the Accra-based club if the opportunity presents itself, especially as Hearts continue to search for sustained success in the Ghana Premier League.

Boadu remains one of the most successful coaches in the club’s modern era. During his previous tenure, he guided Hearts of Oak to the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title, ending a long wait for league glory and restoring pride to the club’s supporters. He further strengthened his legacy by winning two FA Cup trophies, making him one of the most decorated coaches in the club’s recent history.

His potential return is being discussed at a time when Hearts of Oak are still trying to fully re-establish dominance in Ghanaian football. The Phobians ended the most recent Ghana Premier League season in third place, a respectable finish but one that still fell short of their ambition to reclaim the league crown.

Interestingly, Boadu himself has also maintained a strong coaching profile since leaving Hearts, finishing the current season in fourth place, a performance that reflects consistency and competitiveness in his managerial career.

Tactically, Boadu is widely respected for his ability to organize teams effectively, balance defensive structure with attacking intent, and extract high performance levels from his players. These qualities were evident during his successful spell at Hearts, where his leadership helped transform the club into a dominant force in domestic competitions.

His relationship with Hearts supporters remains strong, largely due to the trophies and memorable moments achieved under his leadership. Many fans believe that a return of the coach could provide the psychological boost and tactical stability needed to push the club back into title contention.

With Hearts of Oak still in search of a consistent winning formula, the possibility of Samuel Boadu’s return has naturally become a talking point. Should negotiations progress positively, the Phobians could once again turn to a familiar figure who previously delivered silverware and restored belief at the club.
