Defender Yaw Frimpong has been dropped from Asante Kotoko’s squad for its 2018-2019 Caf Confederation Cup campaign due to fitness, SportsworldGhana.com can exclusively confirm.
The Porcupine Warriors, in their quest to have a very compact team for the competition, announced last week that, the former TP Mazembe right-back, has joined the team and successfully been included in their Confederation Cup squad.
But after carefully assessing the fitness level of the player, it became necessary that the CAF Champions League winner should be given enough time to rediscover his form after being inactive for more than 9 months.
Frimpong still remains a player of Asante Kotoko but only will not take part in the Preliminary stage of the competition.
Meanwhile, midfield duo Stephen Nyarko and Daniel Nii Adjei have been included in CK Akonno’s team, totaling his squad to 27.
