Former Ghanaian international Alfred Duncan achieved a silver medal with Fiorentina in this season’s UEFA Europa Conference League competition.
Despite being part of the Italian Serie A team, the midfielder remained on the bench during Wednesday night’s final against West Ham United.
Regrettably, Duncan and his fellow teammates were unable to match their opponents’ performance and suffered a 2-1 defeat after 90 minutes of play.
In the 62nd minute, a penalty converted by Said Benrahma granted West Ham United the lead, following a goalless first half.
However, just five minutes later, Giacomo Bonaventura’s clever strike restored parity for Fiorentina.
Ultimately, a late goal from Jarrod Bowen secured the victory for West Ham United.
While West Ham United received gold medals as the crowned champions, Alfred Duncan and his teammates were awarded silver medals for their commendable performance in the tournament.
