Accra Hearts of Oak legend, Acquah Harrison has narrated a superstitious incident that took place during a crunch CAF Confederation match between the Phobians and Cotton Sport. The Accra giants travelled to Cameroon to face the Garoa based side in a Group match B of the First Edition of the CAF Confederation cup tournament.
In an interview with Dan Kweku Yeboah, the tough tackling defender revealed he saw a bit of the juju at display by his then team manager Sabahn Quaye “I saw something in Cameroon, Sabahn Quaye(Team Manager) hit an egg to the ground and it bounced back in the air ’’ further quizzed by the interviewer if the egg was boiled, he replied “ it was an uncooked egg which was suppose to break upon hitting the ground, but bouncing back in the air was a sign we were going to lose the match.
The display of superstition was evident as Accra Hearts of Oak lost by 2 nil in Cameroon but managed a heavy win in the reverse fixture by 5 – 1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Affectionally called Ga Mantse by the Accra hearts of Oak fans, the defender was part of the starting lineup that defeated Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the grand finale in Kumasi on penalties.
