Ghana’s Black Meteors head coach Ibrahim Tanko has named former Accra Hearts of Oak SC talisman Daniel Afriyie Barnieh a call-up.
The attacker has lacked game time since he joined Switzerland Super League side FC Zürich after the CAF Africa Nations Championship.
Afriyie Barnieh captained the team during the qualifiers for the 2023 CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco but has been out of form since joining the European club.
Nonetheless, the technical team of the Ghana Olympics team have included the former Hearts player and captain of the Meteors team to join the group of 29 players invited by the gaffer.
The Black Meteors will depart Accra on Monday, June 12, 2023 for Cairo where they will camp for two weeks and engage in series of friendlies before the competition.
The team has been training at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence at Prampram ahead of the trip to Cairo.
