Former Asante Kotoko striker Kwadwo Poku, popularly known as ‘Mahala,’ has criticised the current Kotoko players ahead of their highly anticipated Super clash against Hearts of Oak.
Poku stated, “Coach Zito is out. Focus should now be on the players. They must deliver at all costs. It’s funny; Kotoko doesn’t intimidate any club lately. If they fail to deliver on Sunday, they should be detained at the stadium to learn a lesson.”
His comments underline his frustration with the team’s recent performances, suggesting that the responsibility now rests entirely with the players to rise to the occasion. Poku’s remarks have sparked debate among fans, as he emphasised that the squad must demonstrate character, intensity, and results on the pitch.
The former striker’s bold statement adds tension ahead of one of Ghana football’s most celebrated fixtures, highlighting the pressure on the Kotoko players to reclaim dominance and assert themselves in this historic rivalry.
The supporters of the Porcupine Warriors will be watching closely on Sunday to see if the current Kotoko squad can respond to these criticisms and deliver a strong performance against Hearts of Oak.
