The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of German tactician Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Nigerian national team, Super Eagles, with immediate effect.
The 58-year-old replaces Finidi George, who resigned from his role in June after a disappointing run of results.
The NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, confirmed the appointment in a statement, saying that the NFF Executive Committee had approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development sub-committee to appoint Labbadia as the new head coach.
This marks Labbadia’s 37th tenure as the head coach of the Super Eagles.
Labbadia is expected to lead the team in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month. Nigeria struggled under Finidi George in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and the NFF is keen to turn things around with the new manager.
The German tactician has been tasked with revamping the team’s performance and restoring their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in African football.
