The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to name a new Black Stars head coach within the next one to two weeks, according to FA president Kurt Okraku, as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Okraku revealed the timeline following the dismissal of Otto Addo, stressing the urgency to secure a replacement ahead of crucial international fixtures.
“We will have a new coach in a week or two,” he told 3Sports, signaling the FA’s determination to move swiftly in filling the vacancy.
Addo was relieved of his duties after a string of disappointing results, including defeats to Austria and Germany, with the decision reportedly taken after a late-night meeting in Stuttgart.
The FA has since begun assessing both local and foreign candidates, with several names already linked to the role as Ghana seeks to stabilise the team and rebuild momentum.
With time not on their side, the new coach will have limited opportunity to make an impact before the World Cup. The Black Stars are scheduled to face Mexico and Wales in May, fixtures that will serve as key preparation matches.
Ghana have been drawn in a tough Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, making a swift and decisive appointment crucial to the team’s chances on the global stage.
