Chris Hughton, the head coach of the Black Stars, has provided his assessment of striker Hafiz Konkoni after observing him during training sessions.
Konkoni, who plays for Bechem United, is the sole local player in the Black Stars squad for the AFCON qualifier against Madagascar this month.
During a press conference on Tuesday ahead of the crucial Group E match, Coach Chris Hughton expressed his admiration for Hafiz Konkoni’s performance in training.
Hughton mentioned that he had the opportunity to watch Konkoni play live last weekend and has also reviewed video footage of his performances.
The coach was pleased with Konkoni’s display during the training session and stated that he has been enjoying watching the young player.
Hughton acknowledged that Konkoni still has room for development due to his age but noted that he appears to be a mature player.
“I was fortunate to watch him live last weekend. I have been able to watch him on video. I thought he did well today [in training]. It wasn’t a surprise because he is a player I have enjoyed watching. He is a young player so I think he has a lot of development still. Speaking to him I think he is quite a mature player for his age,” Chris Hughton shared.
With Ghana set to face Madagascar on Sunday, June 18, Hafiz Konkoni will be hopeful of earning an opportunity to represent the Black Stars in the upcoming clash.
