Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has emphasized that his primary focus is on the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola, set to take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
When asked about Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, Addo made it clear that his attention is currently on the immediate task at hand.
“It will be a mistake to be thinking ahead of what I can do, but what I am doing at the moment is thinking about Angola because they are difficult sides, and that is what I am doing,” Addo stated during a press conference held at the Ghana Football Association’s Headquarters on Thursday, August 29, 2024. The event was organized to announce his squad for the AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Ghana will face Angola in Kumasi on Thursday, September 5, 2024, before taking on Niger four days later in Morocco. Niger does not have a CAF-approved stadium to host continental games, so the match will be played at a neutral venue.
