Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has acknowledged that the upcoming matches against Angola and Niger will be challenging for his team.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, August 29, in Accra, Addo unveiled his squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, emphasizing the difficulty of the task ahead.
“The next games are going to be tough because everybody expects us to win,” Addo stated, referring to the pressure following Ghana’s recent victories in the World Cup qualifiers.
During the press conference, Addo also explained his decision to leave out experienced players like Andre Ayew and Daniel Amartey from the squad. He mentioned that the focus is on long-term development, saying, “We are looking at long-term development, and that’s why we decided last time not to invite Andre Ayew. Daniel Amartey is a bit of the same.”
Ghana is set to face Angola on September 5 and will then take on Niger on September 9 as they aim to secure their place in the AFCON tournament.
