Ghanaian centre-back Rufai Mohammed has emerged as a transfer target for Italian club Venezia, with the Serie A side reportedly monitoring his situation at Swedish club IF Elfsborg.
The 20-year-old defender has enjoyed regular involvement in Sweden’s Allsvenskan this season, making 15 league appearances in 2026 and contributing one assist. He has also found the net once in the Svenska Cupen.
Mohammed joined Elfsborg from Ghanaian club Inter Allies in March 2024 and has continued his development in European football. He spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Värnamo before returning to Elfsborg and becoming part of their first-team setup.
Standing at an impressive 1.98 metres, the Ghanaian defender has been a regular option for Elfsborg, although he has started 32% of the club’s league matches this season and played 37% of the available minutes.
A possible move to Venezia would represent a major career step for Mohammed, taking him from Swedish football to Italy’s top flight and providing an opportunity to compete at a higher level.
The defender’s current market value is estimated at €350,000, while his contract with Elfsborg runs until 31 December 2029, meaning any transfer would require negotiations between the two clubs.
No official bid or agreement has been confirmed, and Mohammed remains an Elfsborg player as interest from Venezia continues to develop.
