Aduana Stars secured their first away victory of the season with a 1-0 triumph over bottom-placed Legon Cities at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Thursday, December 26, 2024.
The decisive moment came in the 43rd minute when Abdel Latif Bamba found the back of the net. Bamba was set up by a precise cross from Godfred Poku Wakii, and the Ivorian expertly slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the Fire Boys a crucial lead before halftime.
Legon Cities had opportunities to take the lead earlier in the game, but they failed to capitalize. Frederick Akatuk came close after Aduana goalkeeper Massawudu Inusah spilled a save, but he couldn’t convert the chance.
After the break, the home side pressed hard for an equalizer, but Aduana’s resolute defense held firm, denying the Royals any clear-cut opportunities.
The victory ends a five-match winless streak for Aduana Stars and lifts them to 11th place on the league table with 17 points. The Fire Boys will return to Dormaa to face defending champions FC Samartex in their next fixture.
Meanwhile, Legon Cities’ struggles continue as they remain anchored at the bottom of the table. Winless in their last four matches, they now face a tough away trip to Hearts of Oak in their next outing.
