Berekum Chelsea responded strongly to their opening-day defeat by recording a 3-1 victory over Dreams FC at the Golden City Park on Sunday.
The Bibires made an explosive start and needed just three minutes to take the lead, with Abubakari Seidu finding the back of the net to give the home side an early advantage.
Chelsea continued to dominate the early stages and doubled their lead in the 16th minute through Jonah Attuquaye.
The two-goal advantage gave the hosts control of the match, and they went into the halftime break with Dreams FC facing a difficult task to get back into the contest.
Dreams returned from the break with greater urgency and gradually began to put Chelsea under pressure.
Their efforts eventually paid off in the 75th minute when Abdul Razak Salifu reduced the deficit to 2-1.
The goal lifted the visitors’ confidence, and Dreams FC pushed forward in search of an equaliser as they attempted to complete the comeback.
Chelsea, however, remained composed and defended their advantage before delivering the decisive blow in stoppage time.
Marvin Owusu scored late to restore Chelsea’s two-goal cushion and put the result beyond doubt.
The victory gives Berekum Chelsea their first three points of the new Premier League campaign and provides a strong response to their opening-weekend setback against Hearts of Oak.
The Bibires will now look to build on the victory when they travel to face newcomers Port City in their next league fixture.
Dreams FC, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to respond at home when they welcome Bibiani Gold Stars in their next match.
