Aduana Stars faced another setback in the Ghana Premier League as they were narrowly defeated 1-0 by reigning champions FC Samartex 1996 on Sunday at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa Ahenkro.
This marked Aduana’s third home loss of the season, a surprising dip in form for a team traditionally strong at home. Despite coming off a much-needed victory in their previous match, the Ogya Boys were unable to build on that momentum, falling short against a resilient Samartex side.
Samartex, who had been winless in their last five matches, found the inspiration they needed to claim a vital victory and revive their faltering season.
The game’s only goal came in the 76th minute when Solomon Agyei scored his second goal for Samartex with a composed finish, making the difference in a tightly contested match.
Aduana’s hopes of mounting a late comeback were further hampered when goalkeeper Masawudu Inusah was shown a red card, leaving the hosts to play with ten men in the final stages.
This defeat further highlights Aduana’s struggles with consistency, while Samartex will take confidence from their crucial victory as they aim to turn their season around.
