Nations FC returned to winning ways with an emphatic 3-1 victory over Holy Stars at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Sunday, solidifying their place in the top three of the league table.
The hosts took an early lead through Black Stars defender Razak Simpson, who capitalized on a defensive error to open the scoring. Faisal Charwetey doubled the advantage with a composed finish, bringing his season tally to nine goals, further cementing his position as the league’s top scorer.
Holy Stars, who came into the game unbeaten in their last two matches, struggled to contain Nations FC’s relentless attack. Emmanuel Annor added a third for the home side with a spectacular volley that left the Holy Stars goalkeeper with no chance.
The visitors managed a late consolation goal through Emmanuel Agyei, but the outcome was never in doubt as Nations FC comfortably saw out the match.
The victory keeps Nations FC in third place, just one point behind the league leaders, while Holy Stars drop to 11th following their first defeat in three games. Nations FC will look to carry this momentum into their next fixture as they continue their pursuit of the league’s top spot.
