Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw during an intense clash at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Sunday.
The result brought an end to Kotoko’s four-match winning streak and also denied Medeama a chance to record back-to-back victories under interim coach Evans Adotey.
Kotoko took the lead just before halftime, with Kwame Opoku finding the back of the net in the 44th minute. His goal extended his scoring streak to two games since rejoining the club, showcasing his attacking prowess. The visitors dominated the first half, putting up a solid defensive performance that kept Medeama at bay.
After the break, Medeama grew into the game, buoyed by strategic adjustments from coach Evans Adotey. Their efforts paid off midway through the second half when substitute Kamaradini Mamudu capitalized on a defensive error to equalize, much to the delight of the home supporters.
Both teams pressed hard for a winner in the dying minutes, but neither could break the deadlock. The draw left Kotoko frustrated as they lost crucial momentum in their bid for the league’s top spot. On the other hand, Medeama showcased their determination by securing a hard-fought point.
Asante Kotoko will aim to return to winning ways in their next fixture, while Medeama continue their pursuit of consistency as the season progresses.
