On Sunday, Hearts of Oak secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Nsoatreman at the Accra Sports Stadium, ending their recent run of defeats.
The Phobians took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to an own goal from Nsoatreman midfielder Philip Ofori.
Yaw Baafi then extended their lead in the 66th minute with a well-taken strike. Despite Nsoatreman pulling one back just two minutes later through Samuel Ofori, Hearts of Oak held on to their lead until the final whistle.
The away side’s chances of a comeback were further hindered when Ransford Asokwah received a red card in the dying minutes of the game.
This loss means that Nsoatreman have gone four games without a win, leaving them dangerously close to the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak’s victory has strengthened their chances of a title challenge, as they move up to third in the league table.
