On Thursday, the Black Stars clinched their 10th consecutive qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament with a hard-fought victory over the Central African Republic (CAR).
Ghana emerged victorious with a score of 2-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium, thanks to a late goal by the young forward Ernest Nuamah, who had recently joined the prestigious French club Lyon.
Nuamah’s debut goal played a pivotal role in securing Ghana’s spot in the upcoming prestigious tournament, scheduled to be hosted in Ivory Coast next year.
The match unfolded at the iconic Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, where Ghana has maintained an undefeated streak since the year 2000.
Despite a strong start by CAR, who took the lead with a goal from forward Louis Mafouta, Ghana remained resilient. West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus delivered a spectacular free-kick goal, equalizing the score and boosting Ghana’s morale heading into halftime.
The turning point occurred in the second half when Nuamah, supported by the hardworking Antoine Semenyo, sealed the victory for Ghana with a winning goal.
The 2-1 triumph not only secured Ghana’s qualification for AFCON but also extended their impressive unbeaten run in Kumasi.
