Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku will play under new Leicester City manager Steve Cooper in the upcoming season, following Cooper’s appointment.
Cooper replaces Italian tactician Enzo Maresca, who departed the club to join Premier League giants Chelsea. Cooper signed a three-year contract that will keep him at Leicester City until 2027.
Maresca left his role as manager of the Foxes after successfully securing the club’s promotion back to the Premier League by finishing top of the Championship standings. Under Maresca, Issahaku rediscovered his form, scoring 7 goals and providing 13 assists in 43 appearances across competitions for Leicester City.
The Black Stars winger was pivotal in Leicester City’s promotion and was named the club’s Men’s Young Player of the Year. His outstanding performances earned him a permanent move to the Foxes from Portuguese side Sporting CP.
The former Sporting CP attacker hopes to establish himself as a key member of the Leicester City squad under Cooper. It’s noteworthy that Black Stars captain Andre Ayew previously worked with Cooper at both Swansea City and Nottingham Forest. Issahaku will aim to build a strong relationship with Cooper, mirroring the successful partnership Ayew had with the English manager.
