Zimbabwean international winger, Kudakwashe Mahachi has been added to Medeama SC’s roster ahead of the upcoming season, as confirmed by GHANAsoccernet.com.
The 29-year-old winger has joined the Ghanaian champions on a one-year renewable contract, arriving on a free transfer after his departure from South African club SuperSport United.
Medeama SC is bolstering its squad in preparation for their debut in the CAF Champions League, set to kick off later this month.
Mahachi’s journey to Medeama follows his release from the South African Premier League side in July 2022, a period marked by legal issues back in Zimbabwe.
The experienced footballer faced accusations of abuse and attempted murder of his son Diego, which led to significant personal and professional challenges. Despite being acquitted of these charges, the ordeal took a toll on his career.
Before his time at SuperSport United, Mahachi showcased his skills at clubs like Orlando Pirates, Golden Arrows, and Mamelodi Sundowns in the South African elite league. Throughout his tenure, he accumulated 153 appearances in the South African Premier League, contributing with 20 goals and 19 assists.
On the international stage, Mahachi boasts 41 caps and four goals for the Zimbabwe national team since his debut on September 9, 2013, in a World Cup qualifying match against Mozambique. He participated in the 2014 African Nations Championship as a part of the Zimbabwe squad, aiding the team to a fourth-place finish, despite a defeat to Nigeria.
Mahachi was also a member of the Warriors squad that competed in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. His arrival at Medeama SC signifies a new chapter in his career as he seeks to regain momentum and success.
