Ghanaian defender Issaka “Baba” Seidu has earned a promotion to the first team of Danish side FC Nordsjaelland after a standout performance at the club’s youth academy.
Seidu, who joined Nordsjaelland in June from the renowned Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, spent time honing his skills with the youth squad in Farum. His impressive development and strong displays have led to his permanent inclusion in the senior team, where he will wear the number 30 jersey.
FC Nordsjaelland’s Technical Director, Alex Riget, praised Seidu’s progress, particularly highlighting his speed and defensive abilities.
“We have noticed Baba for a long time. At left-back, he has impressed with his incredibly high top speed and strong defensive duels. He’s a fantastic asset in our offensive play and we’re excited to see more of him at the Superliga level,” Riget said. “He comes from the academy in Ghana, but we’ve been following his progress closely at the international level as well.”
Seidu, thrilled with his promotion, expressed pride in taking this step in his career and readiness to contribute to the first team.
“It feels great to be part of the Superliga squad, and I’m proud of this achievement. I’ve been with the organization for many years, and taking this permanent step up is a big moment for me as a young player,” said Seidu.
The 19-year-old left-back credited his early football education at the Right to Dream Academy and is eager to make his mark in Denmark’s top division.
“I joined Right to Dream when I was 12, and now I’m ready for the next chapter in my career. It’s not an easy step, but I hope to leverage my familiarity with the playing style and my experience with many of the players. I can’t wait to step onto the pitch and hopefully make my teammates and the fans proud,” Seidu added.
Seidu’s promotion marks another success story from the Right to Dream Academy, with the young defender set to continue his rise in Danish football.
