English-born Ghanaian defender Kwaku Oduroh has left English League One side Derby County, the club has announced.
Oduroh, who played for the Under-21s and had loan spells at Hartlepool United and Rochdale. The former Manchester City U18s captain’s departure was confirmed after the conclusion of the 2023/24 Sky Bet League One season.
Oduroh began his career at Manchester City, leaving the club in the summer of 2022 (after 14 years). He captained City’s Under-18s to the Premier League title in the 2020/21 season and earned a professional contract.
The young defender together with Jack Bates, Alex Gibson-Hammond, Charlie Lindsay, Callum Moore, Eno Nto, Owen Oseni, Carlos Richards and Lewis Ridd are all leaving the club to seek new opportunities somewhere.
The Ghanaian promising defender was the subject of interest from several other clubs after being released by Manchester City after 14 years with the Premier League club. However, Kwaku opted to sign for Derby County in 2022, where he signed a two-year contract.
Kwaku Oduroah, 21, played just two games for Derby County during the 2023/24 League season.
