Ghanaian defender Mohammed Umar has officially joined Romanian SuperLiga club FC Politehnica Iași on a contract that will run until 2027.
The talented centre-back arrives as a free agent, having previously made a significant impact at Finnish club Ilves, where he was a key player.
Umar has already made appearances in cup competitions for FC Politehnica Iași and is anticipated to make his league debut soon. During his tenure with Ilves, he not only won the Finnish Cup but also played a crucial role in leading the team into the Europa League in his final season.
In addition to his club achievements, Umar contributed to the success of Ghana’s national team, being part of the Black Satellites squad that clinched the WAFU Zone B U-20 tournament title under coach Karim Zito.
Currently, FC Politehnica Iași sits 11th in the league standings, having accumulated 17 points from 14 matches.
