Ghanaian forward Kwame Poku kicked off his season in style, netting a brace for Peterborough United in their dominant 4-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town.
The 23-year-old sparked Peterborough’s comeback after a sluggish start, helping his team overturn an early deficit at the New Meadow.
Shrewsbury Town took the lead in the 21st minute through Carl Winchester, but Poku quickly responded just two minutes later, leveling the score and leaving the teams tied 1-1 at halftime.
After the break, the Ghanaian international put the visitors ahead, and a late double from Joel Randall secured the win for Peterborough.
Since joining Peterborough in the summer of 2021, Poku has consistently impressed, and he is expected to play a crucial role this season as the club aims for promotion to the English League One.
