Ghanaian midfielder David Abagna scored for APOEL Nicosia in their 2-2 draw against Anorthosis in a thrilling Cyprus League Round 21 match on Monday.
Abagna gave APOEL the lead in the 30th minute with a well-placed shot. However, Anorthosis quickly responded, with Rafael Lopes equalizing in the 41st minute. Just before halftime, Konstantinos Chrysopoulos put the hosts ahead, completing the turnaround.
The second half saw APOEL come out strong, and their efforts were rewarded when Youssef El Arabi leveled the score at 2-2 in the 53rd minute. Abagna, who had a solid performance, was substituted in the 58th minute for Stefan Drazic.
Both teams fought for a winner, but the match ended with no further goals, despite late drama. Anastasios Donis and Konstantinos Galanopoulos were both booked in stoppage time, but neither side could find the decisive goal.
Abagna has now scored twice in 19 league appearances this season. APOEL will look to build on this draw as they prepare for their next match against Apollon Limassol on February 8th.
