Ghanaian midfielder Forson Amankwah recently shared insights into his football inspiration, revealing that he models his game after the acclaimed Manchester City and Portugal playmaker, Bernardo Silva.
In an interview with Flashscore Ghana, Amankwah expressed his admiration for Silva, emphasizing the diminutive yet formidable nature of his playing style.
“The player I watch the most is Bernardo Silva because I like him so much. Anytime I watch him play, it looks like they’re going to take the ball away from him because he’s small but they never get the ball. He never loses the ball, so it makes him special. My target is to reach his level,” Amankwah stated, highlighting his ambitious aspirations.
A product of the West Africa Football Academy, Amankwah has been making significant strides in his career while donning the jersey for Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. The young midfielder has garnered increased playing time during the ongoing campaign, showcasing his skills and contributing to his team’s success.
As the league reached its midway point, Amankwah’s statistics reflect his growing impact on the pitch. Impressively, he has started 65% of the league games, played 57% of the available minutes, and played a crucial role in 12% of Salzburg’s goals. Notably, this season marked his debut in the prestigious UEFA Champions League, a milestone that underlines his rising status in European football.
Despite his commendable performances, Amankwah faced disappointment in his national team journey. While included in Ghana’s provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, he ultimately missed out on the final list for the tournament held in Ivory Coast. This setback, however, serves as motivation for the young midfielder to continue honing his skills and reaching new heights in his burgeoning career.
