Ghanaian midfielder Shakur Mohammed has completed a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Nashville SC, with the transfer set to take effect ahead of the 2026 season.
The 22-year-old has signed a contract that runs through the 2026 campaign, with club options for the 2027 and 2027/28 seasons, underlining Nashville’s long-term faith in his potential.
Nashville SC secured Mohammed’s services via the Right of First Refusal (ROFR) from Orlando City SC, with the Florida-based club also receiving Nashville’s natural third-round pick in the 2027 MLS SuperDraft as part of the agreement.
Speaking on the acquisition, Nashville SC President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Mike Jacobs praised the midfielder’s development and upside.
“Shak is a talented attacking player who has been a bright prospect in college and in MLS NEXT Pro, and we are excited to see him continue to grow into his potential with us here in Nashville,” Jacobs said.
Mohammed enjoyed an impressive spell with Orlando City’s MLS NEXT Pro side, where he registered 28 goals and six assists in 79 appearances, showcasing his attacking instincts and versatility in midfield. He also made five first-team appearances for Orlando City.
The Ghanaian was selected second overall in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, having built his reputation in the United States after moving from Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy in 2018. His development pathway included stints with Black Rock FC, Blue Devils, and Manhattan, before breaking into the professional ranks.
