Selangor FC, a club in the Malaysia Super League, has made an official announcement regarding the acquisition of Richmond Boakye-Yiadom.
Boakye-Yiadom embarked on his professional football career at the young age of 16, joining Genoa in the esteemed Italian Serie A during the 2009-2010 season.
Born in 1993, the talented player played a significant role in Sassuolo FC’s triumphant campaign in the 2012-2013 season, where they clinched the Italian Serie B championship.
This achievement marked Sassuolo’s first-ever promotion to the Serie A. Boakye-Yiadom showcased his skills by netting 11 goals in 32 games for the team.
During his time at Red Star Belgrade in Serbia, his club secured consecutive SuperLiga titles in the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 seasons.
In the 2018/2019 season, Boakye-Yiadom played a pivotal role in Red Star Belgrade’s SuperLiga victory, scoring an impressive 13 goals in 15 games. In total, he has accumulated 43 goals and 11 assists in 63 appearances.
Boakye-Yiadom has also represented Ghana’s national under-20 team in the past, and most recently, he was a member of the senior national team until the 2022 season.
Additionally, he played a vital role in Ghana’s CAF World Cup Qualifiers, featuring in two matches and helping his country secure qualification for the 2022 World Cup.
