Ragnar Ache’s impressive brace was not enough to save Kaiserslautern from a 5-3 defeat against Paderborn in an action-packed Bundesliga 2 encounter at the Home Deluxe Arena.
Paderborn’s Early Blitz Stuns Kaiserslautern
The hosts made a blistering start, racing into a three-goal lead within the first 15 minutes. Aaron Zehnter opened the scoring before Raphael Obermair and Filip Bilbija added to Kaiserslautern’s early misery.
Despite the setback, Kaiserslautern responded before halftime. Daniel Hanslik converted a penalty in the 45th minute, and Ache struck in stoppage time to reduce the deficit to 3-2.
Ache’s Equalizer Short-Lived as Paderborn Take Control
Ache continued his fine form after the break, rising high to head home a Luca Sirch corner in the 61st minute, bringing Kaiserslautern level at 3-3. However, their comeback was short-lived as Adriano Grimaldi restored Paderborn’s lead in the 73rd minute. Zehnter then sealed the win with his second goal deep into stoppage time.
Ache’s Goal-Scoring Form Continues
The German-Ghanaian forward has now netted 15 goals in 22 league appearances this season. Kaiserslautern will aim to bounce back when they take on Fortuna Düsseldorf on March 29.
