Dutch-born Ghanaian winger Don Angelo Konadu scored his first senior goal for Ajax in their thumping victory over Excelsior in the second round of the Cup competition.

The 19-year-old, who has featured prominently for the Dutch giants reserve side, registered his name on the score sheet in the first half of the 7-2 victory on Wednesday evening.

The Dutch giants opened the scoring just 12 minutes into the first half when Owen Wijndal scored after finishing a clever pass from Mika Godts.

Seven minutes later, Anton Gaaei doubled the lead for Ajax, before Konadu made it 3-0 with a fine strike halfway into the first stanza.

Just before halftime, Jorthy Mokio also found the back of the net, ensuring Ajax went into the break with a huge 4-0 lead.

After the break, both teams opened up play and produced a goal fest. Goals from Jorthy Mokio, Rayane Bounida, and Raul Moro propelled Ajax to a 7-2 victory, with the consolation goals for Excelsior Maassluis coming from Devin Plank and Jannick Verbont.

Konadu lasted 72 minutes before making way for Pharell Nash. The Dutch-Ghanaian is continuously improving and has been tipped to become a key first eleven player very soon.

Meanwhile, Ajax advances to the round of 16 of the competition following their win over Excelsior
