English-born Ghanaian prodigy Samuel Amo-Ameyaw displayed his skills during Southampton’s pre-season friendly against Benfica, despite the team’s defeat.

The young talent, who has represented England at the U16 and U17 levels, played the entire match as Benfica secured a victory with two goals in the first half.

Amo-Ameyaw is expected to feature in Southampton’s next friendly against Turkish side Goztepe, further showcasing his potential.

At just 16 years old, Amo-Ameyaw made history by becoming the youngest player to debut for Southampton in the Premier League during their thrilling final match of the 2022/23 season against Liverpool. He was given the opportunity to play in the first team by manager Ruben Selles in the closing minutes of the game.

Amo-Ameyaw’s journey began when he joined Southampton from the Tottenham Hotspur academy last year. Throughout the season, he demonstrated his talent by making 12 appearances in various competitions, including the Premier League Two.

Impressively, in five matches for the Southampton U18s, he contributed three goals and one assist, highlighting his promising potential.

Having played for England at the youth level, Amo-Ameyaw remains eligible to represent Ghana in the future. His performances have caught the attention of both nations, indicating a bright future ahead for the talented youngster.
